Herdwick Croft

Based in the English Lake District, very close to the beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake, Herdwick Croft offers a quality caravan and camping site with countryside surroundings.
The site is only 8 miles from the market town of Keswick on Derwentwater, and 5 miles from Cockermouth, the birthplace of Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (author of Mutiny on the Bounty). The picturesque Lakeland village of Bassenthwaite is only 2 miles away.
Bassenthwaite Lake is ideal for those interested in watersports. The Bassenthwaite Sailing Club is one mile, where you can hire or launch a sailing dinghy. The lake is excellent for windsurfing and canoeing or just relax on the lake shore enjoying the sun or a picnic. There is also golf within 4 miles.
Directions to Herdwick Croft
From the M6 Motorway: Turn off at Penrith - Junction 40 - then head along the A66 towards Keswick. Go past the Keswick turn off and continue along the A66 towards Cockermouth for about 6 miles. You will see Bassenthwaite Lake on your right and will pass through a winding dual carriageway. On the exit of the dual carriageway after 1/2 mile there is a turning right towards Bothel. Follow the signs for The Castle Inn (right again) and when you reach the small bridge over the River Derwent , cross over and Herdwick Croft is immediately infront of you!
