Glenville House

This traditionally built Lakeland-Stone Victorian House sits in its own gardens backed by a stream and woodland, and is situated a short walk from both the centres of Windermere and Bowness on Windermere. The atmosphere is relaxed and tranquil. The house was built in 1888 as a gentleman's residence, on entry you will be immediately aware that Glenville still holds a lot of its original character The beautiful pitch pine entrance door with its original stained glass sets the scene for the remainder of the house.
On the ground floor there is a spacious breakfast room and a large double/twin room. The wonderful pitch pine staircase takes you up to any one of six rooms, all rooms are en-suite spacious, tastefully decorated and furnished, with full central heating, colour TV, and radio clock alarms, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities are also provided.
For those special occasions or just as a treat a combination of Flowers, Champagne, Chocolates or a Lakeland Hamper can be ordered and placed in your room prior to arrival or on the special day it?s self.
Resident Hosts and Proprietors John & Elaine Tiscornia have been welcoming guests to Glenville House since February 2003, and look forward to extending their warm hospitality to many new and old friends in the future.
We think it is important to start the day right and our delicious freshly cooked Traditional Full Cumbrian Breakfast with many locally produced ingredients takes some beating, vegetarians and special diets are catered for.
With over 70 restaurants and eating houses within a 10 minute walk of Glenville House you will be spoilt for choice for dinner each evening, with this in mind we only offer B&B, apart from pre-booked resident parties of 8 or more who we would be delighted to organise a fixed menu supper party for.
We do not wish to offend those who do, but we are a no smoking establishment.
Guests have access to Glenville House all day.
Our large private residents car park is also available all day so you can leave your car at Glenville whilst exploring the Lake District on foot or by using any one of the many tour operators or public transport that is available throughout the area.
There is an endless list of places to visit and things to do and see in and around the surrounding area. If you need any local information whilst staying at Glenville, we will be delighted to assist you. If your idea of a holiday in the Lake District is one of a relaxing time, lots of fresh country air and an abundance of things to see and do, then Glenville is ideal for you.
