"Lovely food and great atmosphere" are the usual comments by our visitors.
The hotel is independantly owned and family run . We take great pride in serving our delicious food and giving our guests a warm welcome. We make all the dishes, cakes and sweets ourselves, none of the readymeals here. Our portions are large and very satisfying after a day in the hills cycling and walking. The restaurant is popular with locals too so its advisable to book especially at the weekends. Visit our website to see the menus.
We have comfortable rooms some luxurious with thick chunky towels, with deep baths or pulsating showers. The rooms have everytihng you need most with stunning views. Ideal for a short break situated in the centre of Alston with all its amentities a stones throw away. You can have a lovely meal, bottle of good wine and not have to drive.

The hotel is situated on the A686 through the centre of Alston.
From South, M6 Junction 40, Penrith. Follow A66 (Scotch Corner), and keep left. At Roundabout, take A686 to Alston. 20 miles. Drive into Alston. Alston house is on your left.
From North-East, take A69 west past Hexham. Bear left before Haydon Bridge on A686 to Alston. 20 miles. Drive into Alston. Alston House is on your left past cobbled Front Street From Scotland, take A69 East at Carlisle. Turn right at Brampton roundabout to follow A69, 1 mile, turn right onto A689 to Alston, 20 miles. Turn left at T junction onto A686, over Bridge. Alston house is on yourright.
