The Knoll Country Housee
The Knoll is a beautiful late Victorian country house set in its own grounds amidst wooded countryside at the southern end of Lake Windermere.
We are just five minutes walk from Lakeside village and the pier and within easy driving distance of many Lakeland attractions.
The house has many original period features including an ornate staircase with stained glass windows. The dining room and guest lounge both have open fires, perfect for those chilly evenings where you just want to relax with a glass of wine and good food.
The lounge is equipped with a well stocked bar holding an excellent range of wines, spirits and liqueurs.
Another feature that sets us apart is our cuisine. We offer a terrific breakfast and a superb evening dinner service using mainly local, fresh, organic produce to create really imaginative dishes. Our guests also come back time and again because of our warm welcome and hospitality.
All eight bedrooms are ensuite with television, video (free use of an extensive video library), direct dial telephones, tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries and bathrobes.
In addition to our standard double and twin rooms, we also have suites with lounge areas and comfortable sofas and deluxe rooms with corner baths (one of our deluxe rooms also has a beautiful antique four poster bed).
We have corporate membership of the local four-star hotel's excellent health club which means our guests have free use of a fully equipped gym, Jacuzzi, spa, sauna, steam room and pool.
If you enjoy walking and wildlife, the paths at the rear of the Knoll take you on either an all day walk with a pub stop or a short evening stroll.
We are also a haven for wildlife with red squirrels, deer and a variety of bird life.
Grizedale Forest is a also just a short drive away with its trails and woodland sculptures.

Directions to The Knoll Country Housee
Take the Kendal/Windermer road off junction 36 of the M6 then take the A590 to Barrow in Furness. Newby Bridge is signposted. Continue on the A590 for approximately 12 miles. At the roundabout, go straight over, past the Newby Bridge Hotel on the left. Look for the right turn immediatly after the Newby Bridge Hotel signposted to Lakeside village. Take this road and head for Lakeside village (1 mile). The Knoll is approximately 400 metres on the left past the Lakeside Hotel.
