Woodside

Woodside, Ravenglass, Cockermouth, West Cumbria and West Lakes, UK

This wonderfully secluded 16th century farmhouse stands in 3 acres of gardens, making it the ideal place for children to run about – and for their parents to relax and unwind whilst they take in the magnificent views of the Lake District fells. With two double rooms and two twins, the house sleeps up to 8 people, although in winter, its cosy sitting room is more suitable for groups of up to 6. It is an ideal base from which to explore the Western Lake District.

Waberthwaite village shop is just one mile from the house, and the nearest pub, the Brown Cow, is two miles away, with bar food, an open fire and real ales, and which was voted Pub of the Season West Cumbria and Western Lakes in Autumn 2006 by CAMRA.

Waberthwaite is ten minutes away from the fishing village of Ravenglass, with its Roman bath-house, beach, and the famous Ravenglass & Eskdale Miniature Railway - a popular miniature railway that travels seven scenic miles to the beautiful and tranquil Eskdale valley Muncaster Castle Gardens and Owl Centre is also ten minutes away and has lots going on all year round, especially for children. In nearby Wasdale you will find England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike and its deepest lake, Wastwater, and there are hundreds of riverside, valley and mountain walks and climbs in the surrounding area.
