Newtown House

Newtown House, Ravenglass, Cockermouth, West Cumbria and West Lakes, UK

Newtown House boasts impressively high ceilings and many original Georgian features. Just a mile and a half away, past a ruined Roman bath house, is the village of Ravenglass, a Roman port and favoured destination of smugglers. An isolated beach cove at the end of the drive is the perfect place for a picnic and there are miles of country walks to be enjoyed direct from the door.

Ravenglass is a wonderful starting point for exploring the Lake District with plenty of walks either along the coast or over Muncaster fell to Eskdale and the mountains beyond. It is also the starting point for the famous Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Miniature Railway which makes a leisurely seven mile trip to the Eskdale Valley.
