Crookhurst Farm
Crookhurst, is no longer a working farm, it is situated at the northern edge of the Lake District in a quiet setting approximately half a mile from the award winning Allonby Beach (which also hosts Wind Surfing Tournaments).
With breathtaking views across the Solway Firth towards the Galloway coast of Scotland and the Lake District fells visible over the rolling fields of the Solway Plain, Crookhurst is centrally placed for the visitor to access some of the most beautiful sites on offer in the country.
The farm house is within 14 miles from Cockermouth where the early home of the lakes Poet William Wordsworth can be visited, as well as craft shops and Art Galleries.
Futher afield, inland, at approximately 23 miles is the Lake District town of Keswick adjacent the picturesque lake of Derwentwater and the starting point of the popular Skiddaw and Catbells climbs.
Northwards along the coast from Allonby at approximately 8 miles is the Victorian town and port of Silloth, specially built in the 1850's by the predecessors of the North British Railway Company to improve their local and Irish Sea shipping services.
Whether you would like to lock yourself away from the world in a quiet rural setting or visit the shops, sports and leisure facilities close at hand in Allonby, Maryport and Silloth the decision is yours.

Directions to Crookhurst Farm
M6
Head for Junction 41 after Penrith. Follow B5305 until you reach Wigton then turn left onto A596 to Aspatria. Turn right for Westnewton B5301, turn left for Allonby. 3 miles, first farm on your left to Bowscale Farm and Crookhurst.
From Carlisle
Follow the signs for Workington (A595 / A596). Follow A596 until you reach Aspatria, Turn right for Westnewton B5301, turn left for Allonby. 3 miles, first farm on your left to Bowscale Farm and Crookhurst.
If you miss the turning for Westnewton follow the sign for Maryport and turn right for Allonby.
Once in Allonby...
Turn of at the bridge in the middle of the village onto the Westnewton road. Bowscale Farm (The propietors of Crookhust) is the second farm on the right about half a mile outside of Allonby....ask for Brenda!
