Rayrigg Villa Guest House
Rayrigg Villa is a traditional Lakeland stone house built in 1873, and ideally situated in the heart of Windermere village. A warm welcome is always guaranteed. A full English breakfast, with various alternatives, is provided by the resident owners - Linda and John Hayward.
Originally the home of a prosperous corn merchant, Rayrigg Villa stands at the edge of Windermere village, overlooking the Azalea and Rhododendron bushes in Library Gardens.
It is convenient for the village shops, buses and railway.Just a mile along Lake Road is the bustling village of Bowness and the bay where a variety of launches and steamers ply for cruises on Lake Windermere ? England?s largest lake.
The World of Beatrix Potter, the Windermere Steam Boat Museum and the Launches and Cruisers on Lake Windermere are close at hand. There are numerous local walks to picnic sites and view points.
Further afield, there is the constantly unfolding beauty of the Lake District, its mountains, Lakes and Tarns, an abundance of attractions and visitor centres with plenty of activities from mountain biking to water sports.
We are open throughout the year, to enable our guests to experience the differing appearance of the lakes and hills as the seasons change. The scenery is breathtaking at any time, and we will be happy to give you advice on the routes around the area.
Rayrigg Villa has seven bedrooms, all having either en-suite or private bathrooms. All rooms have colour TV and tea/coffee making facilities.
Breakfast is served at around 8.30 am, and private parking is available at the rear of the house.
We are members of the Cumbria Tourist Board and have been awarded Four Diamond status in the English Tourism Council Guest Accommodation Scheme.
We are happy to take children of all ages, but where small children are involved, we ask parents to provide travel cots and high chair or adaptors.
We normally inform guests that they are welcome to arrive at any time between 1.00pm and 6.00pm. If guests intend to arrive outside these hours, advance notification is requested, so that we can try to meet requirements. Accommodation may not be available for use before 1.00pm.
